Dwarf Mugo Pine

Brief Description

Dwarf Mugo Pine is easy to recognize because it looks like a short, smooshed down pine tree. It might even make you ask “when is that pine tree going to grow?” It is an accent shrub and adds texture to the landscapes. It requires next-to-nothing for maintenance. This is a great choice for a unique, set-it-and-forget-it shrub that’s also kind of quirky.

Planting

Because the Dwarf Mugo Pine is small in stature, it can be planted in numerous locations. While it grows up to 10 feet wide (in rare occasions), it’s very slow growing so it’ll take a lot of time to get anywhere near 10 feet wide (if ever). It stands out due to its uniqueness, so plant somewhere that will catch people’s eyes. Regular watering during infancy is adequate. 

Care

Sit back and relax because this pine is extremely easy to care for. They need essentially no pruning and maybe just maybe a once-a-year clean-up of the needles that it drops. There might even be a rare occasion that it has a ‘wild’ hair that needs to be trimmed, but that too is very rare. 

Flowers 

They do in fact have flowers, but they inconspicuously arrive during Summer.
