Globe Blue Spruce

Brief Description

The Globe Blue Spruce, in our opinion, is a great alternative to the Mugo Pine. Because landscape plants tend to be green in color, we love plants that offer contrasting colors to break up the monotony. It has wonderful, bright blue needles that give your yard some pop! Additionally, its cute, soft appearance makes you want to hug it (but don’t because the needles will prick you). They grow up to 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide.

North America

Planting

Because the Globe Blue Spruce grows about 6 feet wide, it doesn’t have a big footprint. We recommend finding a recognizable location in your landscape because you’ll want to be able to watch this plant grow. During infancy, the Spruce loves moist soil, and once it’s established, reduce the watering to a normal amount. Besides these things, it’s a set-it-and-forget-it type of plant.

Care

The Globe Blue Spruce requires very little care. As it matures, if you so desire, you can prune it in order to shape it to your preference. Otherwise, let it naturally grow and it’ll be beautiful. As for watering, it needs an average amount of water. One great thing about it is that it can go through periods of drought, so make sure at the very least that it’s not getting too much water.

Flowers

It does not produce flowers.

Varieties

This is the only variety.

Invasive

It is not invasive.

Lastly, we highly recommend Watter’s Garden Center, Mortimer Nursery, or Prescott Valley Nursery as great places to both purchase shrubs & trees but to also ask questions because these are the experts.
